The morning sun casts long shadows across a dusty village field, where children from Rann Rani gather in a circle, their eyes bright with anticipation. Miles away, the Arabian Sea laps against Mumbai’s shoreline as kids from Dhai Akshar sprint across the sand, their laughter mixing with the sound of crashing waves. These two vastly different settings share something remarkable – they’re both home to raw Ultimate Frisbee talent that’s about to come together for the first time.
School of Ultimate Coaching Sessions
For over a year, our School of Ultimate coaching sessions have taken us between these contrasting worlds. In the village, we’ve watched young players work on mastering the fundamentals on uneven ground, their determination unwavering despite the challenges of rural training conditions. Their connection to the sport runs deep, rooted in the same earth they play on. Every throw, every catch develops organically as they adapt the game to their environment.
Meanwhile, on Mumbai’s beaches, a different energy emerges. The Dhai Akshar kids bring urban dynamism to their training, using the soft sand to their advantage as they dive for spectacular catches and execute lightning-fast direction changes. The ocean breeze adds an extra element to their throws, teaching them to read conditions and adjust their game accordingly.

Shared Passions
What strikes us most about both groups is their shared passion. Despite coming from different backgrounds – rural and urban, village and metropolis – their love for Ultimate Frisbee transcends these boundaries. They arrive at each weekly session with the same enthusiasm, the same hunger to learn, and the same natural athleticism that makes coaching them an absolute joy.
The learning curve has been remarkable to witness. These kids don’t just pick up techniques; they absorb the spirit of Ultimate Frisbee. They understand that this sport is built on respect, fair play, and community – values that resonate deeply with their own cultural backgrounds. Whether they’re problem-solving a defensive strategy in the village or perfecting their throwing technique on the beach, they approach every challenge with curiosity and determination.
Their raw talent is undeniable. Watching them move through the ultimate field is like witnessing pure instinct in action. They read the game naturally, anticipate movements before they happen, and execute plays with a fluidity that can’t be taught – only nurtured. Our School of Ultimate coaching curriculum provides the structure, but they bring the magic.
Bringing them Together
Now comes the exciting next chapter: bringing these two groups together for their first tournament as a unified team. This isn’t just about combining players; it’s about merging two distinct playing styles and two communities that have never intersected before. The village players bring grounded-ness and tactical patience, while the beach-trained athletes contribute agility and adaptability.

The preparation for this tournament represents more than athletic development. It’s about proving that sport can be a universal language that bridges economic, geographic, and cultural divides. When the Rann Rani kids meet their Dhai Akshar teammates for the first time, they won’t see differences; they’ll see fellow Ultimate players who share their passion.
This tournament will showcase what we’ve believed all along: that talent isn’t confined to traditional sporting academies or expensive training facilities. It grows in village fields and on city beaches, nurtured by our coaches who believe in the power of inclusive sport. These kids are about to prove that with the right guidance, encouragement, and opportunity, young athletes from any background can compete at the highest levels.
As we prepare for tournament day, we’re facilitating the coming together of two communities through shared dreams, mutual respect, and the simple joy of playing a game they love. This is Ultimate Frisbee at its finest: a sport that builds bridges, breaks barriers, and creates champions both on and off the field.
